Around 11:30 PM last night, several Alphabet City / East Village residents reported hearing 8-10 loud pops of unmistakable gunfire. EVGrieve reported that the shots happened on Avenue C between East 11th and 12th street on the east side of the street in the C-Town shopping plaza.
Two years ago when I first moved to New York, Avenues A, B, C and D were talked about as if they were apart of the East Village. And I happily went along not knowing better.
Another day. Another fake Facebook post making its rounds. In the last year, you might have come across a Facebook post that says something like “Bank robbery in Detroit”
A sad, heart-wrenching note was posted on Facebook a couple days ago in the aftermath of Wen Hui Ruan’s from two months ago.
Locals are angry that Wen Hui Ruan was brutally assaulted and died from his attack from 20-year old Jamie Pugh. Now after a memorial and some time to reflect, the community is outraged that no one acted sooner to get him help.
I’ve had so many thoughts running through my head when I first read the news story about 20-year old Jamie Pugh attacking and ultimately killing 68-year old Wen Hui Ruan last Friday in Alphabet City.
