Less than a year after sweetgreen opened their first official Los Angeles location, the company packed up the truck and moved its headquarters from Washington D.C. to L.A in February 2016.
Since that first Los Angeles location at West Third (8055 W. Third Street to be exact) was inaugurated in May 2015, sweetgreen has since opened several more locations in the Los Angeles region. They now have storefronts in Santa Monica, Hollywood, Brentwood and one near their HQ in Culver City for a total of five locations in the L.A. area.

Sweetgreen is expanding big into DTLA. If you work in the Downtown LA District or FiDi, soon you’ll be able to add sweetgreen to your lunch rotation. You can’t go wrong with fresh locally-sourced salads that consistently maintain their quality. I’ve been eating sweetgreen now for about two years, and I have yet to be disappointed with one of their salads.
Like other cities, sweetgreen is quite strategic about when and where they want their Los Angeles stores to be. Specifically, they seek out locations that will make them stand apart from other chains — such as Chipotle — while looking for places that are also convenient to hipper areas and trendier, so-called “up-and-coming” neighborhoods.
And because of their choice locations, you can count on sweetgreen to have long lines during lunch hour, especially in an area like Downtown L.A. and the Financial District where there are lots of employees taking their noon break at the same time.
With all sweetgreens, you can skip that lunch line by ordering through their app. It’s simple and easy to navigate. In the app, you start by selecting your desired pick-up location, then you build a salad of your choice (or select one of their yummy featured salads), then place your order. Pay through the app and you’re good to go! Head over to your the location and grab up your salad from the “Pick-up” wall situated usually around the cashier.

Because sweetgreen uses locally sourced ingredients in each of their salad creations, it allows for every bite to be delicious, crisp and healthy as you want it to be. Ingredient options vary by region. There are also fun salad collaborations with local and celebrity chefs per region. Recent collaborations in LA featured creations from Sqirl’s Jessica Koslow — The Sqirl Dinner Bowl; and chef duo Jon and Vinny — Za’atar Salad.
