As we reported back in August, sweetgreen is finally coming to San Francisco. The fast casual salad chain dominating New York City, Boston and Washington D.C. is finally coming to the city by the bay.
Technically, it’s not the first sweetgreen in the Bay Area — there’s one in Palo Alto and another in Berkeley, but this is the first storefront within the 49 miles of San Francisco’s borders. And rejoice! The official grand opening is this Tuesday, October 11th, 2016!
In the meantime, they’re having a few soft opening events to stretch out before sprinting on their first day of business. There’s exclusive tasting events on Thursday, October 6th and another on Saturday, October 8th. RSVP for the Saturday event here. if you get in, you’ll get a “sneak peek preview of our first SF store, including a complimentary meal on us”. My mom and grandma will be there on Saturday. Say hi to them.
If you missed out on the social tasting parties, you can still get in before the doors open with what sweetgreen is calling an “intimate music experience… featuring seasonal eats, sweets from Tartine and beer from Fort Point.” Download and show your sweetgreen app at check-in, you’ll get automatically be upgraded to gold status. Normally it takes spending $100 to get to that status.
If you miss out on all the events and complimentary salads, you can still get $3 off your sweetgreen by using this promo in your app.
Come Tuesday, SF’s sweetgreen will open their doors in their SoMa district location, which well within walking distance to the 9-to-5, weekday office crowds toiling away on their computers in the Financial District. The exact address is:

Don’t be intimidated by the long lines. Similar to Chipotle, they have the process down and the line moves quite quickly. Spicy, spicy cashew dressing, y’all!
