Here’s some photos from the M.I.A./A$AP Ferg show at the Knockdown Center last night. Though a a cool space, the Knockdown Center has terrible sound (hard to believe a place could have worst acoustics than Terminal 5).
The sounds wasn’t the only problem, I was shocked to read that they had to cancel the Thursday night concert due to lagging ticket sales. Also, the venue had its alcohol license taken away a couple days before the concerts due to concerns from the community/local authorities. Sounds like there were lots of last minute issues.
The Knockdown Center sent out this email before the Friday show:
We’re excited to see you at the MIA show tomorrow – Friday May 9!
We write with some nuts and bolts about the show.
1. There will be no alcohol available at the venue due to permitting issues. No alcohol or any outside food or beverage will be allowed onto the property.
2. There will be some great concessions – Bun’ker, Coolhaus ice cream, and Green Pirate Juices, plus other surprises.
3. No Backpacks, or bags in general, will be allowed in the venue. Our full entry policy can be found here: http://knockdowncenter.com/?p=217
Still, even with hard-to-hear lyrics, tons of security, no alcohol, and no encore, the crowd’s energy was high and it was a blast dancing out.
