Pokeworks has only been in the Houston area for two years but that’s been enough to convince the Hawaiian-poke inspired fast casual store to bring another 9 Pokeworks storefronts to H-Town.

The fast-growing restaurant chain plans on opening another nine new locations by the end of the year due to a multiunit franchise agreement that allows them to put the company’s franchises on the fast track.

Pokeworks first came to Houston in October 2017 when they opened their first storefront in the Heights. The fast casual joint opened its second storefront in Montrose six months later in March 2018. Since June 2019, the chain has opened new locations in Katy, Pearland and at the Baybrook Mall in Friendsville.

“Houston is an ideal market to develop the Pokeworks concept in due to its strong demographics and urban setting, which represents vital elements key to our brand,” Kevin Hsu, co-founder of Pokeworks, said in a press release put out earlier in 2018.

The first new location will opened on 1609 S. Post Oak Lane back in February.

The Houston expansion is impressive, but when compared to how the company has grown since it was founded not even five years ago makes it all the more awe-inspiring.

The expansion and success says a lot of the founders ambition: brothers Michael Wu and Peter Yang, along with college friends Kevin Hsu and Kasper Hsu, as well as the country’s appetite for customizable poke bowls. With a create-your-own menu, a variety of proteins and seafood options, in-house and traditional sauces, mix-ins and toppings all for an affordable price, Pokeworks now has nearly 50 locations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Now if they could just open the one in San Francisco they planned for 2018….
