I walked by this concert poster on the way to meet a friend for lunch today and it got me excited to see my third M.I.A. concert this coming Friday.

From the NYT: M.I.A. (Thursday and next Friday) “Matangi,” the solid fourth album from this incorrigible singer-rapper, is a long time coming; its first single, the coolly defiant electro-hop blast “Bad Girls,” was released in January 2012. She brings its accompanying neon-soaked stage theatrics, and a preponderance of rude gestures, to the enormous Knockdown Center in Queens. With ASAP Ferg. Next weekend she headlines a concert with Solange at Webster Hall. Thursday and next Friday at 7 p.m., Knockdown Center, 52-19 Flushing Avenue, at 54th Street, Maspeth, N.Y.,knockdowncenter.com; $38. May 10 at 6:30 p.m., Webster Hall, 125 East 11th Street, East Village, 212-353-1600, websterhall.com/events; sold out. (Anderson)

Shocked that there are tickets still available for the show. I should be thankful, her last show was literally shoulder-to-shoulder packed.

I’m also excited to venture into Queens for something outside of of flying in and out of JFK, a couple visits to 5 Pointz, and a housewarming party.
