I grew up in Michigan and I loved was crazy obsessed OBSESSED with the Detroit Pistons of the 1980s and early 1990s.
It just might a prerequisite that you have to be from Michigan to like the “Bad Boys”. In fact, I haven’t met one person not from Michigan that said they liked the “Bad Boys”. I can’t blame them. Bill Laimbeer, Rick Mahorn and Dennis Rodman did not have broad appeal, and they weren’t looking for it.
Needless to say, I am pretty excited for the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary centering on those Detroit Pistons that literally beat you when they beat you, and beat you even when they lost. Here’s a preview of the April 17th debut:
Win or loss, you were likely going to feel soreness the next day if you were playing the Pistons.
I wonder, between the Bad Boys and Fab Five, did Michigan have the most-hated professional and college teams in history? Probably not, but these two teams would definitely be in the running between 1985-1995.
