It’s the first big snow in New York this year and it’s my first snow after spending more than a decade in California. It’s been coming down for about an hour now. Here’s the scene:

Not much snowfall at all, but apparently, it was enough for a New York record according to the New York Times:
Barely enough for a snowball, much less a snowman, but a record nonetheless.
Any other day in December… and the 1932 record might have remained safe.
Dec. 10 just happens to be the one day of the month when snow has rarely fallen in the city. The December day with the next lowest total of snowfall is Dec. 1, when the 1.5 inches that fell in 1880 stands as the record.
I was surprised at how excited I was to see the fluffy stuff coming down, especially considering all the negativity around the conversations I’ve had around the coming winter.
